Growing
up as a Catholic, Mark Antonucci
was baptized as an infant, received his First Holy Communion, and then
Confirmation. After being confirmed, he began attending church on a regular
basis…Easter and Christmas!
After graduating from Bergenfield High School in 1975 Mark moved to California
where he attended Santa Monica College. He still believed in God and that Jesus
was sent here by Him, but didn’t want to be a hypocrite about attending church
only on Easter and Christmas…so he stopped attending!
At 25 years of age, during an impromptu Bible study with a couple friends, Mark
read John 3:3; “I tell you the truth, no one can see the Kingdom of God unless
he is born again.” This led him to read more, question more, and re-accept Jesus
Christ as his Lord and Savior.
Meeting his wife Claudia, Mark was drawn closer to God and they began attending
church together. After having their daughter, Mark’s wife (a California native)
began talking about moving back east! By the time their son was born 14 months
later…her mind was made up. They were going to raise east coast kids. It was now
a question of where and when.
The Antonuccis moved to Warwick, NY in May of 1998. They first attended another
local church, but after putting their children in the Promise Kids preschool
program at WVCN, they soon established some friendships there and began
attending on a regular basis, becoming members in 2002.
Since becoming a member, Mark has served on several boards and help with the
cleaning, VBS, and moving ministries. Currently, he serves the Lord as a member
of the Discipleship Board and in the capacity of Small Groups Director.
